Y Works

Skills building and employment supports for youth and young adults
 
Y Works is an employment program that assists youth and young adults ages 15 to 30 overcome their barriers to employment.  Our supports are designed to help participants discover new skills and refine existing ones towards labour market integration or further education.  Over a 4 week period we provide individual and group based supports that include needs assessments and employability & skills building workshops.  Upon completion, we connect participants with a paid job opportunity or with appropriate courses and training opportunities in a field of their choice. For those entering the workforce, an additional 8 weeks for tailored supports are provided to both participants and their employers to promote long term success. 
 
Requirements
 
Week 1-4
Group and individual based employment preparation assistance based on life and employability skills and self-directed goals
 
Weeks 5-12
Paid job opportunity with tailored supports provided to both participant and employer
Or 
Assistance with enrollment into academic/training course(s)
 
Supports
Transportation, childcare, allowance equivalent to minimum wage during the in-class portion, work related material and supplies, completion bonus, employment and academic advise,  interview preparation, networking, and on the job supports for participants and employers. 
 
Eligibility
Participants must:
•        be between 15 & 30 years old
•        not be currently enrolled in school
•        be legally entitled to work in Canada
•        not be currently collecting Employment Insurance
•        be able to commit 30 hours per week  for the duration of the program

Y Opportunities is an employment program that assists people with diagnosed or self-identified disabilities overcome their barriers to employment.  Our supports are designed to help participants discover new skills and refine existing ones towards labour market integration or further education.  Over a 8 week period we provide individual and group based supports that include needs assessments and employability & skills building workshops.  Upon completion, we connect participants with a paid job opportunity or with appropriate courses and training opportunities in a field of their choice. For those entering the workforce, an additional 12 weeks for tailored supports are provided to both participants and their employers to promote long term success.
