Teen Night Y Stories
  • “I come to Teen Night because it’s a fun place to be on a Friday night. I get to play my favourite sport (basketball) and work out on the fitness floor. Teen Night gives me a chance to hang out with my friends and to meet new people every week. I love Friday nights at the Y!”
  • “Teen night has been one of the primary reasons I’ve been able to get back on my feet after my life changing car accident. I’ve met a lot of people there who have become my friends and even visited me when I woke up from my coma. The staff at the YMCA are really welcoming and some of my favourite people in the world”
  • “Beth started coming to the Y on Fridays with her cousin and enjoyed using the turf area for work outs and going for swims. We noticed that she was visible upset one day so we approached her to see if she was OK. She disclosed to us that she was going through a tough time and that she suffers from some mental health challenges. One of the core values at the Y is caring and we immediately let her know that we cared about her and for her well being. We were able to provide her with the contact information to the CMHA and other community resources. Above all we really wanted her to know that we cared about her and that she was always welcome at the Y. I am very pleased to say that Beth continues to come to the Y every Friday where she continues to swim, exercise, and develop positive relationships with Y Staff and other Teen Night Participants.”
