Drop-In Y Programs

Active and Creative Kids (6-12yrs)
Offers a variety of activities for children aged 6-12 years old including sports, crafts, active games and fitness. The goal of this program is to encourage children to have a healthy lifestyle in a supervised, fun and safe environment. Come join us. There is no need to register!
After the Bell (6-12yrs)
This active gym program incorporates a variety of free play, group activities, games and sports! Participants focus on teambuilding, skill development and fun of course! Registration not required!
All Sorts of Sports
This program is an opportunity for participants to engage in a variety of different sports. They will learn the basic skills needed to play the game. Check with the branch for specific mandatory protective equipment when registering.
Art for Kids (6-8yrs)
Make crafts using various art forms such as painting, sculpting, origami, paper mache and much more!
Child Minding (3mth-5yrs)
This service included with a family membership, can be utilized by those who require care for their child(ren) while using the YMCA.  Time limit: 2 hours.  Come join us. There's no need to register!
 
Fri-Y (3-12yrs)
Come end your week with a fun filled Saturday night at the YMCA. Enjoy an evening of swimming, games, activities and dinner. A slice of pizza and a juice is included. Additional pizza and juice can be purchased. Registered and additional fee. Note: Prices are subject to change as of January 1st, 2017. 

 

Ball Hockey

               
Active Start Ball Hockey                
This program will focus on learning the basics of ball hockey in an active and safe environment. Participants will be exposed to the basic skills of ball hockey through a fun, age appropriate games approach. A variety of activities will be facilitated each week allowing participants to build on fundamental movement skills. Both ball hockey and fundamental movement skills will be applied during a scrimmage game near the end of each session. 

FUNdamental Ball Hockey               
This program will focus on learning the basics of ball hockey in an active and safe environment Participants will be exposed to basic and more advanced ball hockey skills through a fun, age appropriate games approach. A variety of activities will be facilitated each week allowing participants to build on fundamental movement skills.  Both ball hockey and fundamental movement skills will be applied during a scrimmage game near the end of each session. 

Learn to Train Ball Hockey               
This program will focus on learning the game of ball hockey in an active and safe environment. Participants will be exposed to the basic and more advanced skills of ball hockey through a fun, age appropriate games approach. A variety of activities will be facilitated each week allowing participants to build on fundamental movement skills and develop fundamental sport skills.  Both ball hockey and fundamental movement skills will be applied during a scrimmage game near the end of each session. 
Gym-able
If you’re looking for extra support for your child, gym-able is for you.  Sign your child up for one on one support while they actively participate in one of our many evening programs throughout the week, and our morning programs on the weekends!

Kids Coaching Session (10-12 yrs)

Kids 10-12 years of age may access the fitness centre after completing a Kids Coaching Session.
Kids must be accompanied in the fitness centre at all times by a parent or guardian.

Leagues
Are you ready to be a basketball star? Join us in partnership with the London Lightning for some expert basketball training. 

 

London Lightning and YMCA Basketball Leagues (8-16 yrs)
If you want to take your game to new levels, have fun and learn from experienced professional basketball players, then this league is for you! Learn more & find the registration form here!

Preschool Gym and Swim (3-5yrs)
This program for 3-5 year olds includes 1 hour of fun indoor/outdoor play followed by 1/2 hour fun swim in our pool. Come join us.

Preschool Active and Creative Play (3-5yrs)
This is a structured program which includes craft and creative activities, followed by a 1/2 hr swim lesson.

Nine2Twelve
In a group of like-minded individuals, your child will explore their values and learn how to be a successful leader. Your child will gain an appreciation for open mindedness, self-reflection, positive peer relationships and community involvement through this mentorship program. Each week participants will have the opportunity to explore new themes and activities including; rope courses, nutrition, art, fitness, science, special guest speakers and lots more!

Martial Arts
Our Martial Arts program is the perfect place for your child to gain confidence in their physical abilities. Martial Arts focus on self-development skills, such as perseverance and hard work.  This program will teach your child how to maintain physical fitness and teach them valuable skills that will last a lifetime. Watch as your child tests their physical abilities and grows in mind and body.

 

Dance 
Children love to explore their creative movement in the fun environment which is filled with songs, imagination and interpretation of music. The love for dance is emphasized as basic dance moves are developmentally introduced. Flexibility, co-ordination, agility, body awareness, confidence, strength, rhythm, and style are an integral part of the techniques and are developed in these fun classes.

Growing Chefs
Growing Chefs! Ontario cooking programs offered in partnership with the YMCA of Western Ontario are all about having fun exploring food and cooking!  Children will learn the basics of food preparation, cooking techniques, healthy eating – but most of all, they'll learn how to create and enjoy amazing food with professional chefs.

 

Sports Conditioning
Children will have the opportunity to learn about fitness and training techniques with an emphasis on sport specific training including hockey, soccer, golf, etc.

Spectrum Programs (registered but free for members)

 

Cartooning (9-12yrs)
Learn to draw your favorite characters or create characters of your own. Make caricatures of people you know. Become a cartoonist! Please bring one soft-lead pencil (2B-4B) and drawing pad to class.

 

Girls Night Out (9-12yrs)
Come join a fun night with just the girls, dance, laugh, listen to music, chat and have a great time!

 

Glee Club (7-9yrs)
Learn how to become a triple threat in this exciting and energized program by exploring the fundamentals of musical theatre (dancing, acting, singing) in a non competitive environment. Participants learn famous pieces from Broadway musicals, music videos, movies and TV shows. No previous experience required only willingness to learn.

 

Happy Feet (3-5yrs)
An introductory ballet program for preschoolers that emphasizes having fun while learning. Excellent for improving coordination and confidence!

 

Little Series (1-3yrs)
These one class sessions are great for you and your little ones to try new things, topics include Little Artists, Paleontologists, Book Worms, Movers and Shakers, Marine Biologists, Super Hero’s, Architects and Gardeners! Sign up for one or all!

 

Move it! (6-9yrs)
A perfect program for those who would like to try out different dance styles before committing to one w ill learn technique fundamentals and short routines for each dance genre. Parents are asked to wait outside of the dance room, but are welcome to watch Week 8!

 

Music and Movement (2-5yrs)
Come get your dancing shoes on as you  experience a wide variety of different music and dance genres. Participants will engage in music and dance based learning while developing body control, creativity, coordination and confidence!

 

Oodles and Doodles (2-5yrs and 5-6yrs)
Children will have a great time getting messy and creating works of art in this fun and interactive class. Each week will feature different arts and crafts projects. Children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver who is at least 16 years old. ALL participants should wear old clothes and come prepared to get messy!

 

Snack Attack (6-9yrs or 10-13yrs)
Learn how to make simple, healthy and delicious snacks on your own! Supplies are included in program costs.

 

Silly Science (6-8yrs and 9-12 yrs)
Become a YMCA Silly Scientist learning through experimentation! Participate in hands on science experiments and sit in on exciting science demonstrations!

 

Parent and Tot Messy Madness (parent and tot 6 months-3 years)
Parents and children will have a great time getting messy and creating works of art in this fun and interactive class. Each week will feature different arts and crafts projects. Children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver who is at least 16 years old. ALL participants should wear old clothes and come prepared to get messy!
