Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program

What is CELPIP? 
The Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP) is a recognized computer-delivered English language assessment tool. CELPIP is ideal for providing proof of English language proficiency for immigration to Canada, Canadian citizenship, employment, admission to various post-secondary programs, or for membership to various professional
associations. 

The YMCA of Southwestern Ontario is an official CELPIP Test Centre delivering CELPIP Test Preparation Programs as well as the CELPIP-General and CELPIP-General LS tests. 

The CELPIP -General and CELPIP -General LS tests are offered at two locations:

The YMCA of Southwestern Ontario offers a CELPIP Test Preparation Program at our London, Ontario location. It is designed to prepare CELPIP test takers for individual components of the CELPIP Tests. Our program is based on materials that were developed by CELPIP experts to help test takers achieve their target score on the CELPIP -General or CLEPIP-General LS Test. This program is designed for individuals with a high beginner to high intermediate level (CLB 3 – CLB 7) A free assessment test to determine your level is available at www.clb-osa.ca.

Program Details:
Over a 6-week period we provide group-based lessons on effective test-taking strategies and language skills. The program is designed with a module for each targeted skill: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. Students choose to study individual modules or sign up for all. 

Module Descriptions:
 
The CELPIP Listening Module is designed to prepare test-takers for the Listening component of the test including skills such as test-taking strategies, vocabulary building, effective note-taking, visual clues, identifying relevant information, summaries and paraphrases, facts and opinion.

The CELPIP Speaking Module
is designed to prepare test-takers for the Speaking component of the test including skills such as understanding performance standards, developing ideas, organizing your thoughts, giving advice and opinions with effective reasons, transitions, intonation, and more.

The CELPIP Writing Module
is designed to prepare test-takers for the Writing component of the test including skills such as understanding performance standards, writing effective emails, paragraphs, synonyms, avoiding repetition, identifying common errors, timed writing, and more. 

The CELPIP Reading Module
is designed to prepare test-takers for the Reading component of the test including skills such as previewing, skimming and scanning, getting meaning from context, improving your reading speed, identifying main ideas, locating specific information, and more.

$285.00 + tax per module includes a student workbook and 18 hours of instruction.
