Position: Part-Time Membership Services and Facilities Representative

Location: Stoney Creek YMCA

Start Date: August 2019

Compensation: $14.00/hr

Benefits:

Responsibilities:   

  • Serve each member, guest, staff and volunteer with courteous service whether in person or via phone
  • Strive to stay informed and up to date on all YMCA programs and events
  • Provide solutions to member concerns and report any issues to Membership Coordinator
  • Conduct and track tours for guests and potential members
  • Provide excellent customer service at member point of access
  • Data entry utilizing AVOCADO Software
  • Conducts personal financial assistance interviews exercising sound judgment and confidentiality
  • Administrative responsibilities including front line role in processing memberships, cancellations, Membership Agreement forms, and branch communication
  • Register members and guests for memberships, programs and booking wellness appointments
  • Carry out all cleaning tasks as assigned in members’ space, back-of-house spaces and exterior spaces
  • Identify efficient methods and products to be used in the course of carrying out routine cleaning tasks to ensure desired results
    Operation of vacuums, floor polishers, and regular use of various chemical cleaning agents
  • Incumbent is required to be highly mobile, must be circulating throughout building, little time to rest
  • Majority of the job is done while standing
  • Any Duties assign to you by your supervisor

Qualifications & Experience: 

  • Minimum of 2 years customer service experience
  • Criminal reference Check (if 18yrs or older)
  • Current First Aid and CPR
  • Able to read and follow written cleaning and safety standards to complete assigned duties to the quality level established
  • Cleaning experience in a recreational service facility
  • Basic computer knowledge is an asset
  • WHMIS certified

•  To be prepared to deliver high quality, fun, engaging age appropriate programs for children and youth
• To build  relationships with children, parents and coworkers
• To build  the self esteem of  each child within the program
• To encourage interaction between the children
• To  be able to recognize unsafe situations or practices and rectify them immediately
• To be aware of the whereabouts of all children and kept within view at all times
• To demonstrate the four core values: respect, honesty, caring and responsibility

Qualifications & Experience:
 
• Related education or certifications within the child & youth sector, recreation or physical education sector
• Outstanding people skills are essential
• Experience in group child and  youth programming is an asset
• Current Standard First Aid, CPR certification
• Criminal Reference Check including Vulnerable Sector Screening

• Customer Service: Provides fitness floor supervision, including greeting each Member by name whenever possible and servicing their fitness needs during scheduled shift.
• Varied shift commitment including weekday/weeknight/ and weekend times.
• Program Development and Quality: Models commitment and service excellence through the direct development and delivery of quality programs
• Communication/Relationship Building
• Will work towards Personal Training sales goal monthly

Qualifications & Experience:

•  Related education or certifications (personal training required).
• Understanding of physical fitness principles
• Outstanding people skills are essential
• Experience in group fitness is an asset
• First Aid and CPR

Situation: The YMCA of Southwestern Ontario is a multi-service charity that provides opportunity for personal growth for all backgrounds, beliefs and abilities. Our Y provides programs and services to approximately 45,000 members and numerous non-member program participants. Programs and services are directed toward a range of individuals from infant to senior.

The Central Huron YMCA is dedicated to meeting the needs of community residents through provision of memberships, youth and adult recreational and fitness programming.

Nature and Scope: This position places an emphasis on direct exercise program delivery and customer service.

Reporting To: Travis Watson Centre Manager, Central Huron YMCA.

Responsibilities:

• Provide excellent customer service at member point of access

• Serve each member, guest, staff and volunteer with courteous service whether in person or via phone

• Data entry utilizing AVOCADO Software

• Conducts personal financial assistance interviews exercising sound judgment and confidentiality

• Administrative responsibilities and support to the Membership Manager in ensuring the membership processes are followed to standard; front line role in processing memberships, cancellations, Membership Agreement forms, and branch communication

• Register members and guests for memberships, programs and booking wellness appointments

• Support the health and wellness service areas

• Direct delivery of wellness programs and some classes

• Ensure policies and procedures are adhered to

• Implements member engagement activities

• Coaching and development of volunteers

• Maintain relevant certifications

Qualifications:

• Personal Training Certification an asset

• Certification in Group Exercise Streams or Programs an asset

• MOSSA Group Exercise Certification an Asset

• Current CPR/Standard First Aid and Criminal Record Check

Position:  Part Time-YMAP London Program Facilitator

Location: YMCA Centre Branch 

Start Date:  August 26th, 2019- March 31st, 2020 (conditional on funding)

Hours: 20 to 30 hours per week.  Monday to Friday. Hours could Vary

Facilitate YMAP activities, workshops and Field trips
Facilitate and plan sport sessions
Ensure property and equipment adheres to safety and clean standards
Determines eligibility for program and transportation supports
Maintain confidentiality in all matters 
Respond to first aid and emergency situations
Demonstrate energy, enthusiasm and dedication in preparing and executing programs
Participate in regular planning meetings with the Regional Manager of Newcomer Youth and Newcomer Youth Settlement Advisor to determine program themes, complete lesson plans for daily activities, reports and workshops
Create an educational, enjoyable and supervised environment for youth by planning and implementing settlement focused and age appropriate programming
Be responsive to diverse cultural heritage, values and individual experiences
Foster self-esteem, problem solving and conflict resolution skills in youth
Attend all YMCA professional development activities/events as applicable
Demonstrate sensitivity to other cultures and ability to outreach to newcomer communities
Refers newcomers to appropriate internal and external programs and resources
Assist with the Creation, plan and Facilitation of the Leadership curriculum
Other duties as required
 
Qualifications & Experience:

University degree in Social Work, Sociology, Political Science, Sport and Recreation and/or any related area
Experience working with youth an asset
Facilitation experience 
Familiar with youth services in London
Comfortable using public transportation
CPR and First Aid
Speaking another language is an asset
Experience working with diverse populations
Comfortable and effective communicating in group situations
Current Criminal Record Check and vulnerable sector
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
