Hourly Wage: $14

Start Date: August 2019

Situation: The YMCA of Southwestern Ontario is a multi-service charity that provides opportunity for personal growth for all backgrounds, beliefs and abilities. Our Y provides programs and services to approximately 45,000 members and numerous non-member program participants. Programs and services are directed toward a range of individuals from infant to senior.

The Central Huron YMCA is dedicated to meeting the needs of community residents through provision of memberships, youth and adult recreational and fitness programming.

Nature and Scope: This position places an emphasis on direct exercise program delivery and customer service.

Reporting To: Travis Watson Centre Manager, Central Huron YMCA.

Responsibilities:

• Provide excellent customer service at member point of access

• Serve each member, guest, staff and volunteer with courteous service whether in person or via phone

• Data entry utilizing AVOCADO Software

• Conducts personal financial assistance interviews exercising sound judgment and confidentiality

• Administrative responsibilities and support to the Membership Manager in ensuring the membership processes are followed to standard; front line role in processing memberships, cancellations, Membership Agreement forms, and branch communication

• Register members and guests for memberships, programs and booking wellness appointments

• Support the health and wellness service areas

• Direct delivery of wellness programs and some classes

• Ensure policies and procedures are adhered to

• Implements member engagement activities

• Coaching and development of volunteers

• Maintain relevant certifications

Qualifications:

• Personal Training Certification an asset

• Certification in Group Exercise Streams or Programs an asset

• MOSSA Group Exercise Certification an Asset

• Current CPR/Standard First Aid and Criminal Record Check

• Broad Knowledge of the Health and Fitness Industry

• Proven Communication Skills

• Ability to Work in a Team Environment

• Flexible Schedule (mornings, evenings and weekends)

Position:  Part Time-YMAP London Program Facilitator

Location: YMCA Centre Branch 

Start Date:  August 26th, 2019- March 31st, 2020 (conditional on funding)

Hours: 20 to 30 hours per week.  Monday to Friday. Hours could Vary

Responsibilities:  

Facilitate YMAP activities, workshops and Field trips
Facilitate and plan sport sessions
Ensure property and equipment adheres to safety and clean standards
Determines eligibility for program and transportation supports
Maintain confidentiality in all matters 
Respond to first aid and emergency situations
Demonstrate energy, enthusiasm and dedication in preparing and executing programs
Participate in regular planning meetings with the Regional Manager of Newcomer Youth and Newcomer Youth Settlement Advisor to determine program themes, complete lesson plans for daily activities, reports and workshops
Create an educational, enjoyable and supervised environment for youth by planning and implementing settlement focused and age appropriate programming
Be responsive to diverse cultural heritage, values and individual experiences
Foster self-esteem, problem solving and conflict resolution skills in youth
Attend all YMCA professional development activities/events as applicable
Demonstrate sensitivity to other cultures and ability to outreach to newcomer communities
Refers newcomers to appropriate internal and external programs and resources
Assist with the Creation, plan and Facilitation of the Leadership curriculum
Other duties as required
 
Qualifications & Experience:

University degree in Social Work, Sociology, Political Science, Sport and Recreation and/or any related area
Experience working with youth an asset
Facilitation experience 
Familiar with youth services in London
Comfortable using public transportation
CPR and First Aid
Speaking another language is an asset
Experience working with diverse populations
Comfortable and effective communicating in group situations
Current Criminal Record Check and vulnerable sector
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills

Location: Windsor YMCA at Central Park Athletics

Shift: 40hrs per week, varying shifts including mornings, evenings and weekends

Reporting to the Central Manager , the Manager, Aquatics is responsible for member satisfaction in the Aquatic Program area through the development, evaluation, and promotion of aquatic programs. Additional responsibilities include instructional and lifeguard duties.

• Responsible for the development, scheduling and delivery of Aquatics programs and member engagement activities
• Recruitment, training, and mentoring of all staff and volunteer team members for the purpose of delivering excellence in customer service through Aquatics programs and services
• Provide direct leadership in programs modeling/ mentoring service excellence
• Regular usage of pool chemicals and cleaning supplies for water and deck equipment maintenance
• Extended periods of work time will be spent standing, sitting or a combination thereof; as well, strong focused mental attention to surroundings is required
• Needs to be able to manage varying amounts of weight to assist lifeguards/members/program participants in the pool in case of an emergency and to lift /use chemicals

Qualifications & Experience:

• Relevant aquatic certification as follows:
o Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard Pool
o Standard First Aid and CPR-C
o Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor or Red Cross Water Safety Instructor or YMCA Swim Instructor
o Lifesaving and Emergency First Aid Instructor an asset
• YMCA Aquatic Trainer certification is preferred
• Excellent communication skills
• Supervisory experience
• Must provide a current Criminal Record Check as per the Association’s policy

Responsibilities:  

Create a friendly welcoming environment for participants
Build relationships and maintain communication with parents and participants
Supervise participants during scheduled program times
Responsible for the health and safety of participants, co-workers, volunteers and self
Adhere to all YMCA Child & Youth policies and procedures 
Prepare appropriate documentation related to attendance, program plans, incident reports, test sheets and other administrative requirements meeting Supervisor timelines
Role model YMCA Standards, YMCA Values and Commitment to Service
Responsible for the delivery of Aquatics programs and member engagement activities

Aquatics Advanced Instructor
