Position:  Bostwick YMCA Day Camp Counsellor

Location: Bostwick YMCA

Start Date: June 2019

Compensation: $14.00

Responsibilities

• Camp Counsellors are accountable for the direct delivery of camp programs
• Greet each family and camper with a smile, using their name whenever possible
• Act proactively to develop positive relationships with campers and guardians
• Respond to first aid and emergency situations
• Demonstrate energy, enthusiasm and dedication in preparing and executing programs
• Promote and maintain a safe and clean program environment
• Implement lesson plans
• Create an educational, enjoyable and supervised environment for children
• Be responsive to diverse cultural heritage, values and individual experiences
• Directly address parent concerns and liaison those concerns to supervisors

Qualifications & Experience:
• Satisfactory Police Records Check
• Experience working with Children and Youth is an asset
• Effective communication and leadership skills
• Current CPR Level C, Standard First Aid, and AED certification

• Relationships - Develops and maintains mutually beneficial relationships with volunteers, members and colleagues at all levels of the organization.  Proactively assists other in meeting goals by sharing information and resources.  Welcomes opportunities to work in small communities.
• Emotional Maturity - Takes responsibility for own mistakes and learns from them.  Solicits and is open to performance feedback and coaching.  Remains calm and objective when under pressure or when challenged by others.

Location(s): Various YMCA Child Care Locations in London and Surrounding Areas

Start Date: ASAP Wage: Starting $17.42 per hour *This includes $2.00 per hour that is provided through a provincial wage enhancement grant.

Hours: Monday to Friday – schedules vary during daily operating hours specific to the centre
(Example: 7:30am-6:00pm)

Responsibilities:
· To ensure compliance with Child Care and Early Years Act, Health Department regulations and YMCA of Southwestern Ontario policy and procedures.
· To ensure the implementation of the YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum to meet the needs, special needs, interests and talents of all children
· To work professionally with parents, outside agencies, and other team members
· To actively support the staff/volunteer team in providing excellent customer service
· To solve parent/member concerns in a customer focused manner
· To proactively developing relationships with children, peers, volunteers and parents
· To adhere to child safety/security policies and practices
· To maintain a clean and safe program environment at all times.

Qualifications & Experience:
· Valid Standard First Aid & CPR Level C from WHMIS approved agency
· Current Registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators
· Current successful Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening

Child and Youth Leader - Part Time - Windsor

Position: Child and Youth Leader - Part Time

Windsor, Central Park Athletics

Pay Rate: $14/hr, morning and evening hours available

Placement Date: ASAP

Nature and Scope:

The Aquatic Team is responsible for the provision of a safe, friendly aquatic environment that meets the Serving All Members (SAM) standard.

Responsibilities:

• Design  and implement  high quality age appropriate programs for children and youth, with a focus on creativity, flexibility and spontaneity 
• Liaise with parents and community contacts as appropriate
• Maintain accurate records regarding children’s attendance, and submit these records to the Manager after each session
• Utilize appropriate Behaviour Management techniques in all interactions with the children
• Ensure Health and Safety policies are followed
• Respond to first aid and emergency situations
• Incorporate HCD assets into program plans
• Ensure registered programs have information sheets, program outcomes and final project.
• Create a friendly welcoming environment for families and participants
• Build relationships and maintain communication with parents and participant
• Supervise children during scheduled times
• Responsible for the health and safety of participants, co-workers, volunteers and self
• Adhere to  all  YMCA Child & Youth policies and procedures
• Prepare appropriate documentation related to attendance, program plans, incident reports, and other administrative requirements meeting Supervisor timelines
• Role model  YMCA Standards, YMCA Values and Commitment to Service

Qualifications/Skills/Experience:

• Hold Current CPR and First Aid Certificate
• Experience with Children and Youth an asset
• Satisfactory Criminal Background and Vulnerable Sector Search

Other Relevant Skills Required:

• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Reliable team player
• Good written and verbal communication skills

Hours of work: Varied based on your availability
