With health and fitness branches, camps, child care centres, community programs and newcomer services across the region, reaching from Windsor in the West, North to Goderich, South to Point Pelee National Park and East to Woodstock, the YMCA of Southwestern Ontario  is committed to the development of healthy communities. Our locations, programs and services are designed to help our members and participants grow in spirit, mind and body and are open to people of all backgrounds, beliefs and abilities.

This commitment includes a special focus on the region’s children and youth.  From the kids in our camps and those participating in soccer and swimming lessons, to youth who are new to our communities from around the world, the Y is committed to helping our next generation to grow and thrive, as healthy individuals and passionate future leaders.

In the past year, the YMCA of Southwestern Ontario has supported more than 165,000 participants with opportunities to learn, grow and live healthy lifestyles.

“Y” not join these participants, our nearly 91,000 members and over 2500 employees and volunteers in the region to share our vision of a healthy community? 

As we continue to grow, we have a need for the following position:
Date: May 8, 2019 
Position: Seasonal Camping Branch Administrator 
Location: YMCA Camping Branch, 165 Elmwood Avenue E, London, ON
Start Date: June 2019 -August 30, 2019 
Compensation: TBD

Benefits:

Responsibilities:  
- Manage camp registrations for Day Camp and Overnight Camps
- Provide excellent customer service to individuals contacting the Camping Branch
- Communicate by phone, email and in person with community members, parents and other staff
- Manage requests for financial assistance through YMCA Strong Kids and third party providers
- Assist in maintaining accurate tracking and record keeping 
- Assist in the scheduling of transportation for YMCA camps

Qualifications & Experience:
- Post-second education at the College level in Office Administration, or related field is preferable
- Must be able to work in high-volume environment, well under pressure and manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Must be highly professional with the ability to maintain a positive attitude where conflicting time demands are present
- Proficiency in MS Office applications is required
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Must provide a current criminal record check as per the Association’s policy 
- A dedication to demonstrate the YMCA core values

Position: Female Housekeeper
Location: Centre Branch
Start Date: June 7th 2019
Compensation: $14.00/hr

Responsibilities:
 
- Perform assigned cleaning duties with a priority placed on our Family, Women’s and Women’s plus change room areas.
- Strive to stay informed and up to date on all YMCA programs and services.
- Have positive interactions with all members you come in contact with
- Work independently to ensure program areas hit Y SAM standards
- To support and work as part of a staff/volunteer team to ensure excellent customer service.
- Ensure immediate communication of escalated member issues to the Duty Manager
- Communicate with fellow staff members on any issues that may affect programming on a daily basis

Qualifications & Experience:
- Housekeeping background an asset
- Criminal reference Check
- Current First Aid and CPR an asset
- Must have weekend and evening availability

• Camp Counsellors are accountable for the direct delivery of camp programs
• Greet each family and camper with a smile, using their name whenever possible
• Act proactively to develop positive relationships with campers and guardians
• Respond to first aid and emergency situations
• Demonstrate energy, enthusiasm and dedication in preparing and executing programs
• Promote and maintain a safe and clean program environment
• Implement lesson plans
• Create an educational, enjoyable and supervised environment for children
• Be responsive to diverse cultural heritage, values and individual experiences
• Directly address parent concerns and liaison those concerns to supervisors

Qualifications & Experience:

• Satisfactory Police Records Check 
• Experience working with Children and Youth is an asset
• Effective communication and leadership skills
• Current CPR Level C, Standard First Aid, and AED certification

Competencies:

• Values - Consistently demonstrates the Y's values.  Shows genuine concern for the needs, feelings, and well-being of others, even under stress.  Acts with integrity and credibility in all situations.
• Community - Anticipates and takes action to meet the needs of members and the community.  Responds to requests, inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a timely and appropriate fashion to assure that members feel valued.  Seeks out and uses member and community feedback to improve programs and services.
• Relationships - Develops and maintains mutually beneficial relationships with volunteers, members and colleagues at all levels of the organization.  Proactively assists other in meeting goals by sharing information and resources.  Welcomes opportunities to work in small communities.
• Emotional Maturity - Takes responsibility for own mistakes and learns from them.  Solicits and is open to performance feedback and coaching.  Remains calm and objective when under pressure or when challenged by others.
